MTE FAQ Technical Support
Scope of MTE Documentation (User Manuals, Installation Sheets, etc.)
MTE Documentation is NOT intended to serve as a Single-Source, All Inclusive Reference for an Installer or User.
MTE documents DO NOT:
-- Incorporate full texts of all applicable codes.
-- Incorporate full texts of industry-wide Installation Guidelines.
-- Endeavor to fully summarize the industry-wide Good Installation Practices and Procedures, such as those fostered by NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association).
To the extent an MTE product is different and requires specific installation guidelines rather than the general installation procedure applicable to generic product of this type, specific documentation addressing those differences is provided. Otherwise, MTE presumes the Contractors’ experience with this type of equipment, as well as the familiarity with the Codes and with the Good Installation Practices and Procedures, applicable to this equipment.
In particular, MTE "RL" Reactors are in the same Category as any Dry Transformer-Type equipment. The RL Technical USER MANUAL is written for those Installers and Users with Transformer-Type equipment experience. References are made to NEC and applicable Codes, but full Code texts are NOT quoted. Nor does the USER MANUAL recite full text of Good Installation Practices and Procedures.
The Contractors' experience with the Transformer-Type equipment, as well as their familiarity with the above Codes and Guidelines, is presumed.
Specifically, with respect to Audible Sound mitigation, MTE Reactors present absolutely NO Installation requirements beyond those applicable to any Dry Transformer-Type equipment. In other words, any Electrical Contractor who can successfully install a Dry Type Transformer and reduce its audible noise to the practical minimum can apply exactly the same methods to an MTE Reactor.
