MTE FAQ Technical Support
What is the difference between the Reactor fundamental current (IF) rating and maximum continuous (Thermal) current rating (ITH)?
MTE Reactors are designed to deliver the rated parameters (such as % Impedance, etc.) at the Nominal Rated current value referred to as Fundamental current (IF). However, being Harmonically Compensated, they have been designed with the Service Factor, to handle, on the continuous basis, the extra load imposed by the Harmonics and other normally expected Drive Currents. All of these currents plus (IF) add up to the TOTAL TRUE RMS Current (TRMS). Maximum continuous (Thermal) current rating (ITH), to which "RL" Reactors have been Designed, Tested, Approved, and Labeled, reflects the ability to carry this TOTAL TRUE RMS Current. ITH = 1.5 IF for RL-00101 through RL-32003. ITH = 1.25 IF for Larger Reactors (RL-40001 through RL-210003).
